Honda Civic Hybrid Interesting Facts
The Honda Civic Hybrid was first introduced in 2001 but only in Japan. It did not come to the United States until year 2002. Interestingly, Honda Civic Hybrid was the first car in the US to be certified as AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emissions Vehicle) by the California Air Resources Board. While originally it came with manual transmission, models after 2005 are equipped with automatic transmission. The Civic Hybrid has similar fuel efficiency (as rated by the EPA) as the Toyota Prius. When compared to regular Honda Civic, the Hybrid gets 40% better mileage, and its engine has been designed to not only provide plenty of power, but also to allow for ample trunk space. Visually it’s often difficult to tell the hybrid and non-hybrid Civics apart, but the hybrid undergoes improvements to the engine power, better suspension, and of course, improvements to the lithium-ion battery packs.
